Who’s this Award For?
This award is ideal for practising electricians and contractors working in the industry wishing to develop their knowledge of electrical installation techniques. Level 3 is ideal if you are a qualified electrician and have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge.
This qualification demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you need, including, designing and installing systems, appropriate legislation, testing installations, issuing safety certificates.
Course Content
The course has a duration of 5 days and is a mixture of classroom based theory and practical training. The course is designed to give the students the knowledge and skills required for the initial verification of electrical installations.
The student will understand the requirements for:
– Completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
– Initial verification of electrical installations
– Completing the inspection of electrical installations prior to their being placed into service
– The safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
– Testing before circuits are energised
– Testing energised installations
– The completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal pre-requisites to attend this course. Ideally, students will have some experience of installation, inspection and testing in addition to a basic understanding of electrical calculations.
Assessment
Assessment will be through a multiple-choice test, a written assignment and a practical task.
Certification
This course carries a City & Guilds certificate that will be issued on successful completion of the written and practical assessments.
